Do you worry about witnessing?

"And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.....And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God."
-1 Corinthians 2:1, 4

Do you ever worry about what you'll say when witnessing to someone?  Maybe you have a desire to tell others about Jesus, you know its what He's called all believers to do, but you're fearful of sounding like a fool or stumbling over your words or not being able to answer someone's questions?

We all have that fear; I have that fear at times.

When those fears come, remember what Paul said here: "I didn't come with excellence of speech or wisdom..."  Paul made it clear that he didn't share the Gospel with people with some amazing presentation or elaborate witnessing method.  He didn't wow people with his knowledge or vocabulary.  He simply shared "Christ and Him crucified."  You and I can do that much.  We don't have to be wordsmiths or even excellent, gifted speakers.  We just simply have to be faithful, as best we can, with the message of the Gospel and what Jesus has done in our lives.

Paul further says (paraphrasing), "I didn't talk and preach with fancy human arguments" but instead, Paul kept it simple so that his hearers' faith "should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God."  I've often heard it said, "If you can talk someone into it then they can be talked out of it."  Human arguments, trying to persuade someone to come to repentance and faith outside of what the Scripture clearly and simply presents, appeals to the human mind and intellect more than it does the heart.  Paul shares that the concern shouldn't be arguing and debating with people (although sometimes that is necessary to a point), but rather simply share the Gospel message, as simple as it is, and let God through the Spirit work.  That's how salvation happens anyway, through the power of God alone!  And the power of God is the GOSPEL (Rom. 1:16).

Reader, fear not!  You don't have to be fancy, have a seminary education, or know a bunch of big Bible words to witness to someone.  Simply share the Gospel message as plainly as you know how, share your story, and let God do the work.
